Baneberry

I found this in the woods, in Essex Jct. Vermont, a few weeks ago, and wondered what it is. Turns out that it's Baneberry, after the berries fall off. Actaea pachypoda Ell., doll's-eyes, white baneberry. The fruits of both red or white baneberry are poisonous. Native Americans used the roots in herbal medicine and as a ritual plant.

Here is my favorite spring in Smugglers Notch. I don't know why so many photographers blurr running water, when water is so beautiful running naturally.

16 Wild Edible Mushrooms You Can Forage This Autumn

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PNq6paMBXU

NOTE- Forage Only When NecessaryDo Not over harvest wild foods. Foraging is fun, but remember that as a human, you have the ability to source your food in your natural environment - wildlife does not. If you must forage for food or herbs for an ailment, only harvest 5% -10% of what you see of any plant or patch you find, so it has a good chance to keep growing and come back next year. Remember that other lives depend on it.
