Nigella or Love-In-A-Mist

Nigella or Love-In-A-Mist flowers. I can't wait until I see these growing in my garden again.
Nigella damascena (love-in-a-mist, ragged lady or devil in the bush) is an annual garden flowering plant, belonging to the buttercup family Ranunculaceae.
The bottom photo was awarded Photo of the Day, on Capture My Vermont, for February 23, 2016.

Island Art

Stone Sculptures.
These are the most wonderful stone lawn sculptures I've seen, while traveling the islands during the 9th annual Discover the Heart of the Islands: Open Farm and Studio Tour. These castles are built by Harry Barber, who was born in Switzerland and always had a strong fondness for the castles found throughout the country. He created miniature buildings from local Vermont field stone. He was a passionate gardener and groundskeeper, and often loved to enhance the look of his properties by constructing beautiful castles, fountains and stone walls made from local field stone.

Alpacas Munching Greens

Alpacas are so adorable while chewing. There are two kinds of alpacas. These are Huacaya alpacas, (pronounced Wuh-kai-ya). Huacayas are fluffy like teddy bears and Suris have long shiny locks like very soft, slightly curly hair. Alpacas are bred specifically for their fiber. High quality fleece from both species fetches top dollar on the international market. Some hand spinners like to spin alpaca fiber mixed with cotton, wool or Silk. Alpaca fiber is used for making knitted and woven items, similar to wool. These items include blankets, sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, ponchos, sweaters, socks, coats, bedding, and a wide variety of textiles.

Peter & The Train Ball

Train Ball by Lars-Erik Fisk, Burlington, Vermont

The Train Ball is part of an ongoing body of work by Lars-Erik Fisk. A graduate of the University of Vermont art department, Fisk has worked as an independent artist in Burlington and New York City, and as artistic director of the band Phish. Since 1996, he has created a series of large, spheroid sculptures that refer to specific objects, buildings, and vehicles. The works merge pop and minimalist sensibilities with a playful sense of humor and impeccable craftsmanship. Fisk’s earliest works in this series were exhibited on the Flemming Museum’s lawn in 1997, and included, among others, Street Ball, Tree Ball, and UPS Ball. Later works in the series included architectural and vehicular subjects, such as Barn Ball, School Bus Ball, Con Ed Ball, and Volkswagen Ball. Lars-Erik Fisk was awarded the 2002 Rappaport Prize for his playful and creative series of spherical sculptures.

Squirrels Winter Dining

I love the way this squirrel was balancing on a branch while dining at the bird feeder.
