Whimsical Flowers

Who knew that chicks & hens could have such cool flowers.
This photo has been awarded the Photo of the Day award on Capture My Vermont on July 8th, 2016.
Orchid Primrose flowers. Also known as Poker Primrose, Vials Primrose.
Primula vialii is a very striking plant. It's distinctive flowers have a bottle brush appearance. It's stout stalk is crowded with hundreds of tiny flowers of red calyces and blue-violet corollas. Primula vialii is native to temperate N.Hemisphere, also high altitude tropical mountains in Ethiopia, Indonesia & New Guinea, and in temperate southern South America.

Foxglove

Getting up close with foxglove. Foxgloves are biennials or short-lived perennials. However, although individual plants may be short-lived, foxglove readily self-sows and multiplies. Foxglove leaves contain digitalis, a potent heart medicine, and are also considered poisonous.

Spring In The City

                                                          Spring In City Hall Park
So glad I went to the Farmers Market.

The lilacs started opening today and the bees came calling.

Spring Patterns Emerging as the Hostas are Unfurling.

Crab Apple Blossoms
One of my favorite signs of spring is crab apple blossoms, especially when they are just starting to bloom, with the white flowers and pink buds.
This photo has been awarded the Photo of the Day on Capture My Vermont, for June 5, 2016.
                                                   Fragrant Hillside
A hillside full of lily of the valley. I love the pattern these plants formed.

Can you smell the Lilacs? I wish they lasted longer.
Building Fun.
A brick building on lower Main Street. There was just something interesting about the contrast between brick, stone, & glass, with the budding trees, symbols, & words (Vermont, Armory, & Laugh).
